Ok, am I in the wrong?

For those of you that know me on FB, you might have just seen my status that read (possibly not word for word but going off memory):

"Paying royalties (writing 50-90 thousand dollar checks for doing nothing but own land) is making me money hungry! Oh what I could do with $50,000!"

And next thing I know, I get a private message from a co worker (she works from home but comes to the office maybe twice a month and is the company busybody and gossip and WAY unproffesional with how she gossips about everyone to everyone!) reading as follows:

"Paige...I'm uncomfortable saying this. Please don't be upset with me. But I feel you should remove the post regarding work and stating that you are paying royalties of 50k - 90k to land owners. We all need to remember we are now a public traded company. Facebook is a very public forumn as you know. Its up to you of course, but in our line of work (accounting) being ethical and private is of upmost importance. Again, please don't be angry with me I appreciate all you do and love this company. I would just hate for anything to ever come back and bite us in the you know."

Yes, it is very nicely written and yes, she might be alittle bit right...but seriously?? Maybe you just have to know this woman but she is ALL drama ALL the time! Our company consists of 15 people, 4 of which even have FB. We were a family business until about 6 months ago and really anything went. Now all of a sudden she is trying to be all "ethical" and professional and it just really grinds my gears. Worst part is I know she will go gossiping to all the other workes about how I did this and will completely flip my staus into something really specific and truly unethical when relaying the story 500 times.

I know, I know. It is better safe than sorry, but am I wrong for being super annoyed by this?

Seriously, she, myself, my husband, and my cousin are the ONLY ones in the whole company that have a FB account. WTF?

  • One of the many reasons that I'm not friends on FB with co-workers.  Especially if she is the way you described her, definitely not a good FB work friend to have.

I don't think people will take anything from your status but if you're that wo

  • I'm sorry to say this, but I think you were in the wrong.

In general, you should never post any information about your work that isn't already publicly available or that you wouldn't want to see on the front page of the Wall Street Journal

  • She sounds annoying, but I wouldn't have posted the status either. My company has a specific "social media" part on their employment contract that prohibits employees from saying anything about them online (unless it's promoting the company, but even that

  • OK obvisouly I am over reacting. I did remove the status ASAP, but I still feel (even after yalls input) that this situation is a little different being that my dad is my boss. I think the insider trading situation is a bit of a stretch considerin
