Cloth Diapering

daycare refusing cloth.

DS has been going to daycare now since he was 4 months old.  When he first started I asked if we could use cloth diapers and they said they weren't allowed for health regulations.  I know that there is nothing in state regulations against them (we're in Iowa) and nothing in the daycare parent handbook about them.

I'd love to switch to cloth at daycare since money is tight and paying $30 - $40 a month on diapers is killing me when we already have a stash of cloth at home.  Has anyone had luck getting their daycare to switch to cloth?

Switching daycares is not an option.

  • Allso offer to show them how to change a diaper. So many people think they know what cloth diapers are when really their perception is totally off.

  • I just don't see what the difference is between cloth dipes and a potty training kid pooping in his underwear. Same thing IMO.

  • I live in Iowa too. I've heard the health regulations excuse. Totally not true! My sister's daycare was hesitant at first, but now that they know about them they love them and tons of other kids are using them too. She just has the diapers all ready to go

  • I would bring in very daycare friendly cloth diapers for them to see (I use aplix Rumparooz for daycare). I actually had 2 daycare ladies tell me this week that they are so easy and they like them better than disposables! Hopefully once they see that t

  • Start by bringing in a velcro all in one or something super simple. That didn't work for me, my daycare was leaning on their corporate "rule" against them for health/sanitation reasons. We ended up getting them to give in by sending the following lette
