I just posted this on the toddler page but ill repost here too:
K so dd is 12 mos, and we are going to get a new car seat this w/e but something just occurred to me. Now that we are ditching the newborn bucket carseat that can clip in and out, more importantly clip into a grocery cart, I've all of a sudden realized we won't be able to do that anymore. Lol! Clearly I'm a bit of a germie and the thought of putting dd in the seat of a nasty germ infested cart gives me the creeps. I know you can buy those shopping cart covers but do they work?
Re: Shopping carts
I use the antibacterial wipes that most stores have at the front door or have some in my purse. I wipe the handle down because DS puts his mouth on it sometimes. He will touch germs, I can't keep him in a bubble. I gave up on the cart cover a long time
You can buy a cart insert for LO thats washable. It can be used in high chairs.
I had a cart carrier, and it was nice for a while but it ended up being more work than it was worth. I do wipe down the carts and DD really likes sitting up like a big girl now. For a while I was wearing her in my carrier, and DH still uses
I obviously have not been on the bump enough to know that putting the infant seat on the cart was a no-no. Thank goodness my kids survived.
I wouldn't bother with the shopping cart cover, just wipe down with an antibacterial wipe (handle

I used one of those cloth covers a few times, then realized it was a pain and most the germs were probably dead by the time my kid got to the cart. Just get a cart that's been out in the sun for awhile. When they chew on the cart I consider it an inn

Eh, I was a wipe down person, not a cart cover. My kids picked up way more germs at daycare than on the grocery cart after it was wipes for sure.

I just use the antibacterial wipes or a diaper wipe and wipe down the cart. We outgrew our infant carrier around 6-7 months, so I wore him for a bit too.
And please don't put the infant seat on the cart, it isn't designed to snap into the

I used the cart cover for my first. I doubt I will this time around. Mainly b/c I don't have one that covers the double wide carts at the grocery store. If I think about it, I'll wipe it down. But, I figure I'm touching th same cart s

I used the shopping cart cover religiously with DS #1, but by DS #2 I was over it and I barely used it.
Whatever. As long as he's not chewing on the handle he's fine. I think that the world has overdosed on antibacterial stuf

Never used a cart cover, just wiped down the cart if I remembered.
My kid is a thumb sucker, so I have kind of gotten used to him being exposed to every possible germ out there.
He has survived.
