Washing machines

I'm new to this board, trying to learn as much as I can. You ladies are so great at making it all sound so easy.

One of my questions has to do w your washing machines. Ours works well but is old, so it doesn't have a bunch of different settings, programs.

I feel I'd be sitting down there having to reset the spin cycle or change rinse cycles to get the right process. Do you all have new machines?

My friend who cloth diapers her DD went on and on about the research she did for her washer/dryer set up so she could CD.

Thoughts on this important appliance for this job?

Frankly I've foundmy old top loader worked way better than my new HE. It isn't difficult to remember to reset the washer in 30 minutes.

I've always been told that old inefficient machines are better for cloth diapers because of the extra water. If you don't have a lot of choices, I would just do a cold wash or rinse if possible, then a hot wash.
