I am a FTM due this June. I put my husband in charge of figuring out the baby monitor and a nanny cam situation as we will have a full time nanny at our house when I go back to work after my maternity leave and we needed a video baby monitor anyway for when the baby gets here. my husband decided on Foscam and got so excited and set them up early last week. Currently, we have one in the nursery as a baby monitor and he set up another one in the family room (which opens to the kitchen and the back door so you can see the kitchen and the door) to be used as a nanny cam. He plans to put another one in the front of the house, so pretty much the entire downstairs will be monitored except the bathroom and DH's office (he doesnt work from home but the baby nor the nanny has no business being in there).
I plan to tell the nanny during the interviewing process that our house is equipped with cameras.
Last weekend, I was chatting with our friends and I received mixed reviews on the idea of having nanny cams. some thought it was natural if you are having a nanny at home, but then some thought nannies would not want to work for a family with cameras. one friend who is dating a nanny even said that his gf works for a family with cameras and they call them the crazy camera family.
I thought it was normal to have a nanny cam; am I wrong? and Am I really going to have less interested applicants due to the cameras?
Re: nanny cam
I would totally have cameras. And if you think about it even some daycare facilities have them. So really what is the difference?
It is your child. If the person taking care of your child has a problem with cameras.....then woul
I am mixed on this. I've had friends who hired people who seemed fantastic- with great reviews and references and things happened and they wished they had cameras to find out the truth. If we had a nanny, I know DH would want cameras in our
We have a nanny and we don't have any video monitor. I trust my nanny, but I can see the appeal of one. We actually had our video camera downstairs on the mantle for the longest time when our nanny started, she told H after a month she thou
I have a video monitor on his crib, and thats it... but I can hear pretty well almost everything in the house...
when I was doing my interviews, I did make them aware that I had it... well, when we needed someone just for one day... I heard
I would never hire someone that I felt I HAD to monitor- who would? But oftentimes nannies come with great references, interview well, and later turn out to do bad things. My mom hired a nanny for my brother (I was in school) and the woman
I think it's completely fine to have them, and I would want one if I had a nanny at home alone with my little one. If you think about it, it can be protection for the nanny, too. If something happens and you have a high quality camera, your nanny can r
I can see both sides of the coin, I don't feel the NEED to watch my nanny, but I would LOVE the chance to check in and see what my kids are doing throughout the day (not that I can watch them for hours at a time).
If you are going to have a nanny
Daycare facilities have cameras, why is it weird if you want to have cameras in place in your home where your child is being cared for? There really is no difference. And if a potential candidate has a problem with that, then maybe they are not the rig
In my area, nanny cams are not the norm. We personally don't have one. I trust my nanny 100%. I feel like cameras are kind of indicating that you don't trust the person watching your child. And if you don't trust the person watc

I know that you are getting mixed responses...... There was just a video I saw and I can't remember where it took place, but this family with a 9 month old had a nanny. They said that she came highly recommended, cleared background check and her
