I work in childcare for over a decade and I'm pretty sure I've heard most of the traditional lullaby songs done in every style under the sun.....as a result I tend to avoid them like the plague!
I've made a metric buttload of naptime cd mixes using things like instrumental beatles songs (jason faulkner), norah jones, jack johnson, katie melua, kenny loggins, quiet disney songs, mama cass, etta james, ella fitzgerald, creed....obviously it's a pretty diverse list lol
So what are YOUR favorite songs you catch yourself singing or humming to LO at bedtime?
Re: Favorite unconventional lullabies...
DH and I are deadheads so a lot of dead songs are sung to our boys -- Ripple is probably our favorite to sing to them.
DS1 can sing most of Van Morrison's "And It Stoned Me" - he calls it The Water Song. Its seriously cute.
DS1: Quinn - 10.22.10 and DS2: Cole - 01.18.13

I can't sing Baby Mine from Dumbo without crying, so my go-to tune is Sing Sweet Nightingale from Cinderella.
I sing "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" to both of my kids. It's my favorite hymn.
Also, "Soft Kitty" from the Big Bang Theory. =D
I sing "Daniel" by Elton John to my son, but with altered lyrics that I came up with while he was in the womb (in an attempt to put a joyful spin on the song). It's amazing how it calms him down!
EDIT:
My husband and I also play a lot
