Anxiety Attach and High Blood Pressure. In need of advice please!

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night completely panicked.  My wedding ring was hurting me, so I tried to take it off (it is on 24 hours a day).  I couldn't get it off, which just caused me to panic even more.  It was 2am, and I woke up my husband screaming and crying.  I feel like a mad woman!  This morning my finger is completely red, swollen and even a little bruised from my trying so hard.

The older I get (I'm 28) the more night time anxiety I get (with or without pregnancy), and it seems to be getting worse, the further along into my pregnancy I get (I'm 37 weeks 4 days).

Should I talk with my OB about this?  Or should I see my regular physician?   Should I just deal with it while I'm pregnant, and then see if it persists after my pregnancy and then do something? I feel like it is starting to become out of control.  The part that really worries me is my blood pressure was very elevated this morning.

Any words of wisdom or advice would be helpful!

  • It definitely is something you should talk to a doctor about. I'm guessing it could get worse after the baby is born, so you'll want to start working on it now. Sorry you are going through it!

  • I would very definitely talk to your OB and or primary care about this -- they can prescibe an anti-anxiety med that is safe for pergnancy in combination with therapy to get you through this.  I'm so sorry - I've had 2 anxiety attacks in my life and

  • I have battled with anxiety my whole life too and it is definitely more unpredictable with all of these pregnancy hormones coupled with the legitimate, natural anxiety of being a FTM.  I wouldn't use the "wait-and-see" attitude about this one, you'll
  • I've had really bad anxiety attacks this week alone. My Dr. Said that it is common in pregnant women in the third trimester & that if it gets really severe there is medication that can be prescribed.  I'm sorry your going though this, especially

  • Yes, I think you should talk to your Dr. Anxiety aside, high BP and such intense onset of extreme swelling can be an inidcation of something else, too (not to make you panic more). It is ALWAYS better to be safe and call. Especially with hypertension.&nbs

  • My ob told me to take off my ring when I sleep. I also try to pull it off every hour or so during the day to make sure I still can. SIL wore her ring 24 hours a day and had to get it cut off by the fire dept. with both if her pregnancies.

  • Thank you everyone for the supportive thoughts!  I am on medication for my blood pressure, and will be talking to my OB about this, when I go in later in the week.

    Thanks!
