We stopped eating processed foods a few years ago. It's pretty easy to do at home now that I'm used to it. However, I'm finding it difficult to enforce it at preschool and other group situations.
I send the food for their lunch, but the school provides snacks. They are things most people consider healthy (i.e. applesauce, vanilla wafers), but I don't b/c of the processing, HFCS, etc. The other situation is in group settings like play group where other people provide the snacks. I started bringing my own snacks recently, and my DD1 was almost in tears b/c she wanted to eat what the other kids are eating. I could tell she felt embarrassed and left out.
DD repeats pretty much everything I say, so I'm finding it hard to explain why we do this to her without making other parents look bad, esp. when she is so upset in public. Any advice?
