? for those who eat only all natural foods

We stopped eating processed foods a few years ago. It's pretty easy to do at home now that I'm used to it. However, I'm finding it difficult to enforce it at preschool and other group situations.

I send the food for their lunch, but the school provides snacks. They are things most people consider healthy (i.e. applesauce, vanilla wafers), but I don't b/c of the processing, HFCS, etc. The other situation is in group settings like play group where other people provide the snacks. I started bringing my own snacks recently, and my DD1 was almost in tears b/c she wanted to eat what the other kids are eating. I could tell she felt embarrassed and left out.

DD repeats pretty much everything I say, so I'm finding it hard to explain why we do this to her without making other parents look bad, esp. when she is so upset in public. Any advice?

We are not at the point where DS notices what others eat, he is 22 month, but I completely understand your pain. I run into junk food--to me vanilla wafers or store bought apple sauce are junk--almost in every situation.

For me, I figure there are enough situations where my child will be made to cry or stuck dealing with my choices/phobias/whatever  (crazy or not). For example...if they are at a b-day party, I'd rather they just had a good carefree time as a child...

I try and let DD pick out things she wants at school and at friend's houses. She's at the age where it really matters to her that she has the same things as friends. Silly, but it's part of being a kid. We just concentrate on what we can do at home and le

This is one battle I am not looking forward to.  Currently we send DDs snack each day and we make it healthy.  I imagine when she is able I will let her choose from our selection of foods what she really wants.  I try to make her fun stuff

I'm currently struggling with this.  I tried sending snacks, but they said he wouldn't eat them because he wanted what the other kids were eating.  It's frustrating, but I don't really know what to do about it.  I highly doubt I will find a
