Ella?

What do you think of Ella for a girl? I can't decide if I like it or if it sounds more like a nickname.

Re: Ella?

  • On one hand, I like it. On the other, it's become totally boring to me. I am always hearing of Elles, Ellas, Ellies, etc... so it's lost a bit of appeal.

  • I think it's fine as a stand-alone name.

As pp mentioned, it is popular to the point of being sort of boring.

  • It's a perfectly fine name, just a little too popular for my taste!

  • It definitely works as a stand alone name, a highly popular one at that!

  • I didn't even realize this name was so popular until I started looking-I'm a teacher and haven't heard it at all. Maybe it's not so much in my area,

  • I think it's beautiful. DS2 would have been Ella had he been a girl, most likely. Though now we've changed our minds and will use a different name for a girl either Caroline or Vivienne.

  • Beautiful name but so popular.
  • I like it but, to me, it's the 'caden' of girls names.  so many caden, aiden, braden, zayden (i know...Ick!) and it seems like there are so many elle, ellie, ella variati

  • It is popular where I live and I have a niece Ella Rose. I love it though
  • At first, I read it in Spanish because "Ella" means "Her". The double ll reads as a y.

Then I think of the Rhianna song...under my umbrella -ella -ella -ella.....
