Sitting in the hospital right now with my 10mo DS who was diagnosed with intussusception. They saw him immediately and performed an "air enema" which fixed the intestine. I just wanted to write this post to keep everyone informed an educated about intussusception, because I had never heard of it before! Apparently its fairly common in 6mo-2yr olds. Just be aware of signs - I knew something was seriously wrong with DS when he woke screaming in the middle of the night and was tensing up his body. He would then do this about every 20 minutes and have pain for about a minute or 2 and then fall asleep immediately after. This carried on until the morning when I called the dr. Apparently if it's not caught very early it can be life threatening with less than a week. I do not want to freak anyone out, just please be aware of this, God forbid, it should happen to your little one. Always trust your gut and don't ever be afraid to call your doctor!
Re: intussusception in 10 month old
I've never "met" anyone else that went through it! DS had this when he was exactly two years old. The only typical symptom he had was the severe pain ever 20 mins. It was so scary and we spent three days in the children's hospital.
I'm so glad your LO is ok. I had never heard of it either and it scared me.
