Hi Ladies - after a year and a half of trying, my husband and I finally were able to conceive. When we went to the doctor last week, we were very excited to learn we were having twins. I was so excited I didn't think to ask the doctor if I needed more folic acid or dha since I am carrying twins. I plan on calling today after work, but was just curious if you ladies had any input?! Thanks!
Congratulations! I took a regular prenatal and then my dr. put me on a FABB tab--extra folic acid and B vitamins. I think it was an extra "1" of something but can't remember the measurement. ha!
I'm pregnant with triplets and my MFM told me I need atleast 1 mg of folic acid (so, that meant taking an extra vitamin...I'm sure the extra calcium doesn't hurt either!)
~ Leah, Rachel and Gabriel were born on May 27, 2013 (23 weeks) ~
My doctor prescribed me 4mg of Folic acid a day. She also prescribed me prenatals instead of over the counter.

Congratulations!! Twins are awesome! During my twin pregnancy I took an extra folic acid and iron combo supplement and a DHA pill (but that was only because there wasn't DHA in the prenatals I was prescribed). Good luck and wishing you a happy and healthy pregnancy!
My OBGYN recommended 2mgs per day. Since my prenatal (w/ DHA) has 800mcgs in it already, I just bought another bottle of folic acid 400mcg tabs, and take 3 per night along with my prenatal to get the 2mgs.
Side note: It's frustrating that you, like me, had to think to ask! Shouldn't they just tell us this stuff?
Thanks for the congratulations!! We are very very excited! :-) I'm totally with you on it being frustrated.. I did call and the nurse I spoke to told me that as LNG as I am taking 1 mg which is prescription strength, then that's fine. I go to my first appointment with my regular ob next Friday.. I just worry because so many people are saying they are taking more... :-/
