Estrogen going down before O

I am on my 5th Clomid cycle and I just had 3 days of bloodwork LH and estradiol on CD10,11,12. My doctor called me and said that my estrogen levels are actually going down, and that I will not ovulate this cycle. Anyone had this happen before? I've only ovulated once before on Clomid. Looks like I'll be moving on to injectables due to the poor response... Sigh...
Has anyone had their estrogen go down before ovulation? Any idea why this could happen? I have PCOS.

I agree with KatyJ... Did you have an ultrasound or just bloodwork? Because earlier you could have had several follies growing, then one took the lead and the others dropped back. That would cause your e2 possibly to go down while still having one or two follies...did he say what your e2 level was?? Without that US info, he's kind of doing this blind. And without an e2 number, so are we.
