I've been away forever because work banned the bump out of nowhere about 3 months ago, then our computer crashed! So right now I am on mobile and it BITES!
Anyways, I was contacted by our SW today about a potential situation, and the BM has history of Meth and Adderall use. I was wanting to do some research, and I remember our FAQ had some info, but the mobile site doesn't have access to it. If one of you ladies could do me a solid and copy those links and post them here, or if you have other sites that would help, I will love you forever! Also if anyone has personal experiences with this, I can share what I know about the situation; I would love to hear any reallife experiences. Thanks everyone!

Here's a brief overview for a newbie:

This one's pretty lengthy but very detailed!

Go Dawgs shared these links in a post a few days ago. Hopefully she doesn't mind me sharing! I haven't looked at them all real thoroughly, but they seem really helpful.

I'm assuming she was just plain abusing it and didn't have ADD or ADHD. Her parole officer caught her with it and she was placed in a treatment center in January and has been clean of all drugs since and will be there until the baby is born. She is due in May so it would only be exposure the first 5 months of pregnancy and before that we are mostly concerned about.

Although my research has shown that, in general, alcohol exposure is far worse than drug exposure, meth seems to be the one drug that stands out. From what I can tell, meth can affect a fetus in many of the same ways alcohol can, resulting in permanent damage to developing organs and possibly the brain.
All my research was from the perspective of someone wanting to learn more about alcohol exposure, but the frequent similarities to meth stuck out to me. Since drug use wasn't my focus, though, I suggest you complete the research specifically looking for the meth exposure. One thing I learned is that most drugs affect the developing child differently, and for many, the most common effect is withdrawal, with few others. Meth seems to be in a different category, and may present more serious, long-term concerns (but since meth is a relatively new drug, the research is still young).
