Yogurt -- would you?

We recently got DD2's tummy in order for solids. It was a long road of gas, cramps and just all around misery for her with anything other than formula. Currently she is just getting purees of Veggies or Fruits with cereal. I am wondering if it would be ok to start some yogurt for breakfast maybe mixed with purees. Is it easy on their tummy?

She is FF, on Prosobee if that matters.

Re: Yogurt -- would you?

  • I give DS yogurt, and it seems like he always poops within about 2 hours afterwards. It doesn't seem to give him gas, though. I'm not sure what is different in the Prosobee formula, but if it is for milk sensitivity I would hold off on yogurt.

Prosobee is soy. I had her on Enfamil and it gave her gas. My poor girl gets gas from everything!!

  • My little girl is seven months, on Prosobee also. I tried giving her Mac & Cheese with mixed vegetables, and yogurt mixed with fruit. Both times she got really ill-projectile vomiting, dry heaving for several hours after, and the worst gas ever. She could only keep Pedialyte down. I know each baby is different, but if you're going to try dairy I would do only a spoonful or two at first. The vomiting started about two hours after eating dairy for us. I won't be trying any dairy again until after one year.
  • Just started LO with yogurt and she loves it. Seems to agree with her, no gas or constipation, etc.

  • If she has a really sensitive tummy, I would wait for yogurt until you can discuss with her doctor.  I would stick with veggies, fruits, and cereals.  She is still really little and just learning to eat so it is no rush.

I started yogurt with my LO recently and it hasn't given her any trouble but she hasn't had any trouble with any solids so far.

  • I would wait.  Sounds like she has an issue with dairy right now.  That would probably stir up problems again.
