Babies: 0 - 3 Months

baby blues

My baby is a week old and is the most precious thing on earth to me. But I still have these waves of sadness that swallow me up everyday. I dont even know exactly what it is that I am sad about. Has anyone else experienced this and did your hormones even out? how long did it take?

Re: baby blues

  • It's totally normal.  For me, it took about 4 weeks to start to feel back to normal.  Getting out of the house really has helped me... and it took about 4 weeks for me to feel comfortable heading out solo on a daily basis.

Hang in there, it isn't easy, but this too shall pass!

  • Give it 10-14 days.  It usually gets much better by then.  Keep in mind that up to 80% of new moms feel exactly the way you do right now and it is all attributable to your hormones dropping off suddenly.  Mine was better in 14 days and completely gone by 21 days pp.

  • Hi there and congrats on your new baby!! I know exactly what you are feeling..I think I had a bad case of the baby blues and now at 7 wks later it is much, much easier and better.  Occasionally I still get sad for no reason, but not nearly as bad and it usually goes away really quick.  Don't worry..it is normal and just make sure you get outside and get fresh air (I thin kthat was a mistake that I didn't do enough) It will get alot easier with time..I cried alot and relied on DH to do alot of things that I wanted to do.  I had a c section and I think that made things worse and the fact that I was so miserable and had a bad recovery.  If you need to talk you can always jump on the bump and talk here!..I swear without it I would be so lost, lol. Goodluck :)

  • Thanks ladies! I just hate this feeling so bad when I am so lucky to have such a perfect baby. It is encouraging to hear your stories.
