I rarely post, but I think you guys could be of some help. We are due in 5 weeks with our second and are team green this time around. We have an 18 month old named Calvin Joseph. If this baby is a girl we've decided on Norah Jane, but boy names are causing a problem.
I love Elliot, but my husband just can't get on board. His favorite it Theodore, but I'm not a huge fan of that. Our compromise name is Bryce, but I'm having a hard time with it. I just don't think it fits with the naming style we've started with Calvin and hope to continue. What do you think? Does Bryce sound odd with Calvin?
Any other suggestions that fit the same style as Calvin, Elliot, Theodore? Middle name will probably be Edward.
Re: Team Green- stuck on boy name
I like Bryce, and I don't think it sounds weird with Calvin.
Are you open to suggestions?

We considered Simon for Calvin, and still love it, but decided not to use it this time because of the chipmunk reference. People seem to think it's pretty funny.

I guess I should add that our last name starts with an M and ends in and er sound- so M start names are out (just not my preference) and er ending names are out. I wish I could use Oliver though. So many good names that I've cut because of my weird sound preferences.
I absolutely LOVE Norah. If our last name didn't start with "Nor", baby girl number 3 would be Norah.
I'm not a fan of Bryce, but it sounds fine with Calvin. Some others:
Jared, Everett, Thomas, Emmett, Benjamin, Noah
With that reasoning Theodore is out too! Haha. I adore Calvin and love Simon and wouldnt side eye the sibset.

I love Elliot(t) and Theodore and think both would go very well with Calvin. I'm lukewarm on Bryce and whereas I don't think it's odd with Calvin, to me they are completely different. Calvin is old and classic, whereas I consider Bryce to be modern and somewhat trendy.
Suggestions:
Henry
Thaddeus
Abraham/Abram
Reid
Grant
Graham
That's my concern. I want them to sound good together and I'm just not sold yet that they do. Grant is one we've considered. It may need to make its way back to the list. But does Grant sound a bit trendy as well? We have a Henry in the family...lots of good ones already taken!
That's my main concern. Everyone tells me I'm overthinking it...and maybe I am. I just don't love love the name like we did with Calvin.
Just for curiosity's sake, did you find out that Calvin was going to be a boy (before he was born)? If so, is it possible you aren't prepared to settle on a boy name because your intuition might/may not be leaning girl? I keep telling DH future kids are all girls, and therefore that's why I can't settle on boy names.
We did know that Calvin was a boy...perhaps you're right. We love Norah and can't wait to use it some day but are not feeling the same about a boy name. So either we won't have to worry about a boy name and that's why we can't settle, or it's totally a boy and I'm worried about finding the right name.
I like Bryce and I think it sounds okay with Calvin but they do seem like different styles.
Suggestions:
Yes, I think that Grant is a bit trendy as well. I just threw some names in the mix
Still, I don't think that there's anything wrong with using names that aren't the same style. Calvin and Bryce don't sound odd. Theodore and Jayydon, now that would be a weird combo.
I understand that you would like to have names ready, but if you're not ready to commit, you're not ready to commit. You could make a list of 5 names and try them for a couple of days: yell "Bryce, dinner. Bryce, someone's at the door for you." etc. and do it with the other names too. I don't know, perhaps it'll help!
Haha, very smart! It will be nice to yell something other than Calvin for a change. We probably will end up going in with multiple names this time. Team green is such a change of pace for us. Who knows, we may not even need it. Thanks for all the thoughts and suggestions. Good to know I'm not the only one who processes things this way.
I agree with others that Calvin and Bryce are fine, but a sort of strange pair. What about Pierce? I am biased since it is DS#2's name, but I think it fits the English feel of Calvin and has similar sounds to Bryce.
Ooh- I love Zeke with Calvin.
I only read the replies quickly so forgive me if there are repeats in my suggestions:
August, Spencer, Henry, Jack, Rhett, Dean, Scott, Graham, Duncan, Bennett, Truman, Drew, Phillip, Silas, Ezra, Harrison, Gray, Luca, Reuben, Rhys

I REALLY love Calvin. It doesn't work with our last name; otherwise, it would have been a serious contender. (DS is Lucius).
I don't like Bryce. I'd feel like that poor kid got the short end of the naming stick when compared to Calvin! I do like the other names you've mentioned. What about Luther? Stick with a 16th century theologian theme.
