2 month immunizations tommorow :(

Im so nervous about her shots tomorrow. Im scared she is going to have a horroble reaction, have a bad fever and be miserable and in pain and I wont be able to comfort her. This is going to be rough.

How was your first shots experience?

Re: 2 month immunizations tommorow :(

  • We aren't immunizing DS (with dr. approval) due to his allergy issues, but I've always been told giving them Tylenol about an hour before the appointment helps a lot.  Good luck!

  • Don't give them anything till you see the doctor. They will tell you what to give for the shots.

DD screamed her bloody head off at her 2 month. Than she went to sleep & slept very soundly. Same with her 4 month& her 4 & month. (We are spreading them out).

The shots are the worst part but once they are done they are done. Just hold baby & have a bottle, boob or paci ready for when they scream. It helps.

  • We are following Dr. Sears' alternative schedule, so DS only had 2 vaccines at his 2 month appointment - one was oral and the other was a shot. He cried for a couple minutes but was completely himself the rest of the day.

However, he got the other 2 vaccines yesterday (both shots) and was fine for several hours, but then was cranky allll evening. I didn't want to give him Tylenol but finally had to later in the evening because he hurt so bad.

I wouldn't give Tylenol unless you really need to.

  • Don't worry! ?Just keep in mind the side effects are rare, although it's easy to get worried from all the information out there. ?I was so nervous too, thinking about everything that could go wrong. ?I was smooth sailing for us, the shots were painful for DS he did cry a lot at the time...I just had the Tylenol and my boob ready and he was comforted no problem. ?

He never had any fever, swelling nothing...he was a little cranky when he woke up, but he slept for most of the day afterwards...

GL! You will be fine, it's harder on the mom's than it is on the baby....?

  • Yeah, don't forget a paci. Make sure you have tylenol for afterwards.
  • I brought an ice pack to ice up his thigh right before the nurse came in to give shots. I also massaged the area afterward. A friend recommended this and it seemed to help a lot. We did not have to give Tylenol. DS took a long nap after his 2 month shots (DTap and rota) and was a little more uncomfortable during the evening of his 4 month set (Hib and Prevnar). I hope your baby does well. :)
