Parenting after a Loss

Hey Rusalkasings!

Was reading the infant checkup, saw BMVs post about new recipes for DD and reminded me to see if you posted the recipe from before, anddddd you did, yay!

But, curious -- did DD have any issues with having the yogurt in the puree?  I love greek yogurt, and have been wanting to give some to DS, but our Ped said no yogurt until a year?? Just wondering if you had any issues with it.. granted, it's only a small part in the whole, but I think yogurt is a great vehicle for other things, too!  Just curious what you're experiences have been :)

Re: Hey Rusalkasings!

  • She didn't appear to have any issues with it. I've reached a point where it seems like every pediatrician ever recommends something different, and that's just in the states, so I tend to expose DD to things in moderation. But I can understand your hesitation!

Butting in..... Our pedi gave us the green light for yougurt and cheese at 8 months. I know your LO had some allergy issues. Maybe that's why your dr wanted you to wait?

I wondered this, but we had him allergy tested and he came up negative for a milk allergy!  She also said no for eggs until 1 year, which I also have read elsewhere is fine after 7 months!

And, because I don't know how to "double quote", but I agree with you completely Rusal!  Every Ped says somethign different.. even the different doctors within DS's office have conflicting opinions at times!  I've given him "tastes" of my yogurt here and there and he's not had any issues.. I think i'm going to try adding it in to some of his purees.. I just like how it's so high in protein and would help him feel full longer -- he's a porklet!! He loves to eat, and is alwaysss hungry!

Thanks for the insight ladies :)

  • Butting in: I've been giving DS yogurt for weeks now. He loves it. I feel like everyone has something different to say about when to feed what. I'm not a dr but what I do is give him something "questionable" watch him really close for an hour or two and then wait a few days. He has had everything! Wait.... Not raw honey yet. I'll be waiting until 1-2 for that. But he's had it cooked.

This seems so sensible! I feel like pediatricians are constantly changing the rules on us, and so long as we don't go crazy, it's probably okay to give babies whole foods. I mean, what did they eat before modern medicine? It's the processed stuff I've been trying to avoid.
