High-Risk Pregnancy

leep procedure done twice

i had the leep procedure done twice in the last 5 years and am now 10 weeks .. i had my first doc appoint men on the 20 of feb and they said everything looks fine but will be keeping a close eye on things ... i had my son at 28 weeks he is now 5 and doing great but am scared i will go early again and with this one and have it earlier than the last one ...

so my question is , is there anyone who has had more than one leep done and had a smooth pregnancy and caried to term or atleast close to it ????

Re: leep procedure done twice

  • why did your son come early? was it due to a cervix issue? if so, i would ask about the possibility of a preventative cerclage (which should be done at 12-13 weeks). are they already checking your cervical length?

i have had 1 leep, followed by one full term pregnancy, 1 loss and 1 premature birth. I am currently 20 weeks and had a cerclage placed at 12 weeks 5 days.

  • they arent sure why he came early i had him a week after i saw my doc .... and yes they have started and said it looks good for now i just saw a nurse practitioner so dont know details as to what they are going to do yet .. i see my doc on the 21 so i will know more then on what we are doing ...
  • I have had 2 leep procedures in the last few years as well and am currently 29.5 weeks with my first pregnancy. I would suggest making sure you have your cervical length measured, and as early as possible.

Mine was only checked for the 1st time at 23 weeks and it had shortened. The doctor said that at 23 weeks, there was too much risk to do a cerclage so I was put on modified bed rest.

I have it checked every 1-2 weeks and thankfully it hasn't shorted anymore, and I have had no signs or symptoms of PTL.

Good luck and I hope you have a smooth pregnancy!

  • oh that makes me feel a little bit better about things. I will def talk to my doc on the 21 about measuring my cervix and some other things .. he had said a while back way befor i even thought about having a baby he would do the cerclage early on and possibly give me shots to help prevent ptl.. and good luck with your little one and hope the rest or your pregnancy goes smoothly
  • I had two keep procedures within a year.  At 11 weeks my doctor placed a cerclage. I haven't shown any funneling or abnormalities..  I am currently 29w2d...

    Good  luck!
