Cough?!

Okay my son is 7 months old and this cough started a couple days ago.... It's not all day, everyday but when he does cough it sounds like a bark (croupe)?! It's not affecting his eating, play and sleep schedule so I know he doesn't feel bad. He hadn't had any fever but the few times he coughs it sounds horrible, what should I do?! We see his pediatrian on Tuesday for 2nd flu shot so should I wait till then? I know that if it gets more persistent I should take him first thing tomorrow but just wanted opinions? Has anyone been through this? Should I be really worried? FTM here so I'm a little freaked out. He doesn't act like it bothers him but it sounds nasty to me! Thanks!

My daughter has chronic bronchiolitis so she coughs quite a bit.  When she has it it sounds like a barking cough but croup will sound more like a seal barking.  SHe usually spikes a low grade fever but nothing too high.  Usually it clears up on it's own and is known to stick around for a few weeks.  Sometimes she wheezes (it'll sound like a whistling when she breathes) and then we have to give her albuterol.  It also doesn't affect her sleep or eating although she will throw up now and again when she's eating if she coughs during meals.  It wouldn't hurt to touch base w/ your pedi. They wouldn't give the flu shot even if your LO was sick so you'll be going to the dr anyway.  Good luck and I hope he's better soon!
