GD Overindulge

My fellow GD ladies please help me get past this hump. I've been feeling sorry for myself about food... I know I'm a crappy person because I shouldn't be thinking this way but instead about my daughters health. Well, I've still been doing well with control until my shower yesterday. I had chick fil a nuggets, sauce, veggies, fruit, a little punch, and a small slice of cake. Anyhow, that's not cheating too much, but cheating nonetheless. Well they sent most of it home and ever since I've just been snacking on those damn nuggets and had two cupcakes! I don't know what I'm asking for but I need some help to slap me back into reality and help me get a grip here. Thanks ladies!

  • I wouldnt beat yourself up too much. We are human (and pregnant) after all.

sneaking a no no treat every once and a while I dont think is going to make or break you.

Then again this is coming from someone who was told she had it but because my numbers are good and they pulled blood too early on my 3 hour, the Dr. says I do not have it.   I am still trying to watch the amount of carbs I eat, but I will admit there was one day this week I could NOT eat enough and "healthy" stuff was repulsive sounding to me.   Through out the day I ended up eating.... 2 andes mints, a homemade dinner roll, and a birds nest my daughter and I had made for her Sunday school class. :)

  • I find that when I eat junk, I crave junk.  In the last week I had vacation, came back to a stomach bug and had a birthday.  While on vacation I had a super small treat every other day but we were walking 5-8 miles a day.  When I came back I had a piece of cake for my birthday.  My numbers weren't high at all, but I kind of wish they were so I wouldn't be tempted by treats.

I am not sure I have much advice, but am just telling myself I need to STOP.  I am having lots of rooibos tea and lemon water and just avoiding the treats.  I figure it will take my body a few days to get back to normal and stop craving junk.

So no real advice for you, other to say I am in the same boat.  I think if you just stop eating the stuff it'll be tough for a couple of days, but then the desire to cheat will go away.  You are so close to the finish line.  Hang in there!

This is exactly how I'm feeling! I ate a cupcake and my sugar was only 114 so I was thinking dang maybe I'm not really diabetic... But I know good and well I am. I'm just justifying. If my number were higher it would be easier for me to get in gear. I'm going to get back on the plan though! I've just got to do it.

  • My dietician said it was ok very once in a while. I have felt like this the last week too so I went grocery shopping yesterday and only bought good stuff so there is not much to cheat with.

  • If you really need a chocolate fix I have a great recipe for a flourless dark chocolate cake that I use stevia in the recipe. It is only 8 grams or carbs per serving.

  • Yesterday DH took me to dinner and I had half his cake. I felt guilty but it was sooo good.

  • Well I figure I only have 9 weeks left until I start getting back to normal so it's something I can live with right now. My issue is the munchies. I've got hummus and whole wheat thins as a munch snack (since 17 crackers is a serving). Carrots and sliced cucumbers are helpful too. I can't do fruit or cereal apparently...I tried muesli yesterday for breakfast and my 2 hour reading was like 133. Fruit has to be small and not before bed or in the evening.

  • I try to balance it out. A shower is hard, but if we're going to have cake or cupcakes after dinner, I try to make sure that most of my meal is protein and veggies.

I had a work shower last week and had a grilled chicken salad since I knew we'd have cupcakes after. My number was 115.

But some days I say screw it and order the pizza because I'm too tired to cook. And I don't feel terribly guilty since I know a few high numbers won't hurt her.
