Trouble TTC

Endometriosis?

How would you know you have it?i know you need to have a laparoscopy to diagnose for sure, but are there major clues as to whether you have it? I know people who say they have a history of endo ...how do they know this? I just wish I had an answer to unexplained infertility. I have one child from iui though so it worked then. But not now... Ugh so frustrating!!

I went to Dr requesting lap because I keep thinking there's a reason I'm not able to conceive (I hate the word 'unexplained'), he rejected my request because my HSG didn't show anything, I have regular cycles, no agonizing cramps/periods and I don't present any of the symptoms for it. I would start with seeing RE again and going from there, good luck

  • I was just lurking, and don't know if I will be of any help but....

Mine was diagnosed when I was younger due to some seriously heaving bleeding and cramps from h***. That along with a family history (mom, aunt, sister)

Then later on confirmed with lap.

  • I occassionally  have pain during intercourse.  Because of this, my doctor did lap surgery and found it then.  I do not have painful periods or heavy bleeding, both of which are typical symptoms.

  • I have moderately painful periods but nothing that I would have thought was Endo. Ibuprofen or pain killers always handled it or dulled it at least. RE asked a bunch of questions and thought I had it based on the cramps, some painful intercourse and diarrhea.

Turns out I had stage 2. I would have never considered it because my SIL has stage 4 and she is in bad physical pain from cramps and everything else. She's the poster child for Endo and has had three laps done to remove it three times.

  • My RE says some ppl with severe endo have no symptoms and some with major symptoms have no endo. He says you can't tell without the lap.

I am really struggling with this too. My RE wants to do a lap, but I don't want to have a surgery that might be unnecessary. My RE says there is no way to say if it is necessary until after the lap.

What to do? What to do? I could just do the hysteroscopy and see if that works for a few cycles. Then schedule the lap if it doesn't work after four or five cycles. But, do I really want to keep waiting to find out?
