So...pretty sure I'm out this cycle. So I gave Dr. a call to see what the next step is. Another round of clomid? CD11 scan, hcg, and finally that IUI??
Dr. said we could do that if I wanted but she mentioned not doing the medication since we are both pretty sure I ovulate. Then just schedule an IUI for the day after my first + OPK. I told her that sounded good. After I hung up, I was like S#$%& what did I just do?
I guess I'm just worried that extra follicle or two and the timing of the HCG I shouldn't haven't given up. I don't know. What do you think?
Re: Did I just make a mistake??
I'm still new to this so hopefully other women will chime in. This is my first cycle and it's medicated so I'm not familiar with the usual monitoring process for unmediated cycles.
You can do unmedicated IUI cycles, but you should definitely still get b/w and an u/s on CD3. I am not sure how necessary a CD12 u/s would be with that, but perhaps someone else can chime in.
Also, it is very possible to do an IUI cycle with OPK's - I just did one. Initially they told me to test with OPK's in the evening and come in the morning following my positive OPK. I was testing mornings as well so I didn't miss my surge, and ultimately ended up going in the same day as my positive OPK.
I don't think you made a mistake, but I do think you should call and ask some more questions about monitoring. You need to feel comfortable with the plan.
ETA: Also, FWIW, I also ovulate on my own, but my RE said my odds of getting a good strong ovulation and more "targets", if you will, in terms of eggs, would be helped by Clomid, so that is what we did.

I'm sorry that I'm confused by your post. Are you asking if doing a non-medicated IUI is fine? Yes. If you are not taking any medication it's OK if you don't have monitoring and go in for IUI when you get a positive OPK as a cheap choice (if you are OOP). This saves you the cost of monitoring and drugs to your system. However, not having an HSG first means you still won't know if your tubes are open. So I'd still do that.
And while a natural IUI is not unheard of, there are many benefits to medicated cycles even for those of us that ovulate on our own. It makes the ovulation stronger (if you might have weak O or low progesterone). It makes it easier to perfectly time. It gives you the possibility of two or three targets for more targets for the sperm (although I've seen studies that this does not increase your chance of pregnancy, my RE disputes that and I tend to agree with him). Etc. etc. etc.
If you are not OOP, I say why spend a cycle on something with a low chance than a medicated, monitored, IUI cycle (with trigger)? But that's just my two cents.

Thank you all for your thoughts. It's so nice to be able to bounce ideas off of people that really have experience in this area. I did just change insurance so treatment is covered. My Dr. mentioned that the more we do the clomid the more we have to worry about lining thickness, which I knew about. It's just so frustrating because this next cycle would have been cycle 4 medicated with clomid, and I still haven't gotten to do my IUI. I guess I just need to ask her more questions about the lining issue. All of my baselines, midcycle scans have revealed no uterine lining issues. I just got the feeling she was urging me to not take the medication, but still at the same time leaving it up to me. I think I'm feeling ok about it now. Plus it will be less stress on DH, we don't want performance anxiety like last time. :0/
@Katib77 I have had an HSG (just under 2 years ago) tubes are clear and open. Thank you for the info and your two cents too
