Pregnant after 35

dreamt that my baby died :(

Anyone else have terrible dreams about your baby too? I'm so shaken by it, it was so vivid and real.  WARNING!!! Description below:

I dreamt that, at 10 weeks, the baby was kicking and punching me violently from the inside.  I could see it pushing on my belly so I screamed for my DH to come to the bathroom.  By the time he got there, I was holding this tiny baby in my hands.  She was smiling at me but was blue.  Then she turned green and began vomiting & vomiting until she deflated and died.

It's so disturbing. Trying not to dwell. How horrifying...

Re: dreamt that my baby died :(

  • I'm so sorry you had that dream!  It's normal to worry about losing a baby and sometimes those conscious fears slip into our dreams.  Try not to dwell on it and know it is normal.

After I had my first baby, I kept having the same recurrent dream that I had fallen asleep in the bed with the baby and was positive that if I rolled over she would fall out of the bed and die.  It woke me several times each night!  Each time DH was kind enough to get out of bed and check on her in the bassinet to make sure she was fine.  I finally had to stop nursing her in the laying down position so when I had the dream I knew it wasn't real!

  • I had REALLY vivid, unpleasant dreams in the beginning. I think it's related to all those hormones ramping up in your body. I had dreams that my baby had issues, that I lost it, etc. Not quite as grisly as yours, but definitely vivid enough that I woke up breathing fast and with my heart racing.

Hang in there-- hopefully they'll change to the typical horny pregnant woman dreams, with some just odd ones thrown in there.

I think my last really vivid dream was about drinking a glass of milk-- it was so incredibly cold and creamy and delicious in the dream that when I woke up, I immediately made my husband go downstairs and get me a tall glass of milk which I downed in about 2 seconds.

I haven't had a nightmare about the baby since about 12 or 14 weeks and I'm 26 weeks now...

  • That sounds really awful and scary :(.  I had a few miscarriage dreams early on but not since first tri.  I had a lot of anxiety back then and pregnancy just seems to bring on the weird dreams anyway.  I hope you don't have another one.

  • Oh no, that sounds horrible!  It probably just reflects your fears at this time though.  That's usually what dreams like that are...just your mind trying to sort through your daily fears and stresses.  It doesn't mean anything for your baby.  I hope the memory of it fades fast for you though.
    Me - 38 DH - 38 DD - 2 pregnancy
  • Thanks girls! ((hugs)) I appreciate your concern and thoughtful words.  I hope to God that tonight is better, esp after trying to deal today! I'm a little afraid to fall asleep later <:(

  • Ugh, that nightmare sounds AWFUL!  It can take days for me to get dreams like that out of my head, there's something about them that is too realistic.  I've been having crazy dreams about chasing people around with a chainsaw...very scary and graphic...I wonder where the heck did I come up with that one???  It must be a combination of all of the hormones and our various fears.  I hope you're able to get that dream out of your head and sleep tonight!
