Not talking much?

My boy is only saying Mama and dada and no. Shouldn't he be saying more by this time? It doesn't even seem like he wants to talk.

Re: Not talking much?

  • DD says mama, dada, hi, bye, and daw  (dog) thats it! I think their vocabulary/speech really picks up between 15-18 months.  I wouldnt worry just yet.

  • C only says mama and no, and she calls DH "bob."  She understands a lot more than she can say, though, as I'm sure yours can.  I wouldn't worry about it!

  • Alex doesn't say much yet either, but he understands a lot. My pedi actually said that he should be able to say 10-15 words by 15 months, but he is the only one I've heard that from so far! I am not concerned, I am pretty sure he'll be okay and start talking more soon :-)

C babbles mama and dada, but I'm not convinced he knows what they mean. I would say "up" is his only word and he rarely uses it. He prefers to run around with his arms up in the air instead. I'm not worried about it, I'm sure he'll start talking eventually.

Pretty much this, only substitute "eat" for "up".
