Question

Went to see my OB today because of a rash in my mouth it's just a virus related to allergies but while I was there she said let's try and see if we can here the heartbeat. Unable to find it and she told me if it worried me we can have an ultrasound done but I said no. I'm only 10 weeks and 2 days so that's normal to not hear the heartbeat by Doppler right? Doctor didn't seem worried....

Re: Question

  • Yup it's not uncommon to have a hard time finding it even at 12 weeks. I wouldn't be too concerned.

  • Just wondering, why didn't you get the ultrasound?

But yeah, it's totally normal for them to not be able to find it that soon. I was lucky to hear mine at 11 1/2 weeks.

  • that would have freaked me out. although the doc didn't seem worried, i would have wanted to check via ultra sound to be sure.

Either way, sending vibes that baby is perfect. :)

I've already had 3 ultrasounds. Just had one on the 11th. And have my NT on the 8th. I had those three us done to placenta had torn slightly.... But last showed it completely healed and baby was perfect. I'm have no reason to suspect anything is wrong.... So that's why I said no. But now I started thinking about it.... I wish I had said yes!

  • The Dr tried to find the heartbeat via doppler at 11 wks 6 days for me with no luck. We went on to get an ultrasound just b/c the Dr ordered one, and all turned out fine with baby's HB @ 160. She said she probably had a hard time with the doppler because my placenta is large for my uterus and close to the uterus opening. Which, she also said is common.
