DH will be commissioned as an officer in the Air Force this Spring. He will be stationed at Andrews Air Force base so we will be re-locating to the DC area sometime in August once he finishes COT.

Anyone in this area with advice about places to look for apartments? We are leaning towards Alexandria but I am open to other suggestions. My primary concerns are living somewhere family friendly where we have access to parks, restaurants, etc and a reasonable commute for DH. TIA.

Have you considered living on post? Its actually pretty nice up there. I live in Alexandria and wouldnt want that commute. Sure, its not long in the sense of miles, but traffic is killer around here.

Thanks for responding. Unfortunately, the wait list for base housing is ridiculously long. He's talked to some other folks who live in Alexandria and work on base and they said the commute isn't too bad. He'll mostly be working roughly 7am-3pm so maybe this is why - because it's somewhat outside of rush hour?
