N3T Related: Anyone in DC? Recs?

So DH and I booked four days in DC (staying near Dupont Circle) for our spring break. We're both teachers and are super excited for the time off and a little vacation, even if it's cold! We want to see the monuments on the national mall, hit up a couple museums- preferences? - and hope to have some nice meals. Any recommendations?

When I was in DC for a short visit I did all the monuments in one day but was really tired from all that walking. Did the Smithsonian the next day, I loved the air and space smithsonian. Pick out based on what you're both most interested in. I would have done the holocaust meuseum but the line was too long back in 2004 because I think it was fairly new.

Oh, and as for a nice restaurant if you don't mind expensive I loved the lobster bisque at the Palm. But that was back when I was in sales, single, and a good economy so I didn't mind the price...now, it might seem too high to me.

I live right on the Pa/Md line so we often escape to D.C for a weekend when we need a get away.  I love the American History museum (the First Ladies' dresses exhibit is always exciting, also Kermit the frog is there and I am a sucker for a muppet.)  Really though, you can't go wrong, it's all fun.  Have a good time!

I'm in Northern VA- just outside DC. Dupont is a great place to stay! 

As for museums- Air and Space is cool, American History, the Holocaust Museum is amazing, but very sad.

As for dinners- food in the city is $$$, but here are some popular places- Founding Farmers, Zaytinya, Eola.

I like the Air and Space Smithsonian, Holocaust, and the Spy museum.

PP mentioned some good places to eat. We also like Rasika, Clydes, and Black Salt. You could also hit up Ben's Chili Bowl for more iconic DC.

I also like the Air & Space museum at the Smithsonian.  Eastern Market is really fun (not sure if it's open this time of year, but you could google it).  The Spy Museum sounds fun, but DH and I didn't really enjoy it. ETA: the National Portrait Gallery was fun too!

 Good restaurants: I like Bistro Bis for a fancier meal.  Zatinya is fun (as someone mentioned already).  Tryst is also really neat for coffee/desserts, and it's right bye Dupont/Adams Morgan.

The Crime and Punishment museum is cool, it's not on the Mall and not free however. So is the Spy Museum. I like walking around the National Galery for some relaxation. Air and Space Museum is really cool too.
