Ok let me start off by saying I know these are dumb questions (really I know the answers) but I just need some reassurance! This is my first pregnancy so just wondering what you have all heard from your doc and what you are going by. Thanks!
1. How much caffeine are you having daily? Any at all?
2. What brands of nail polish are safe? I've heard Sally Hansen and OPI but I cant find anything on the label that says this.
3. Is it ok to sleep on your stomach? I know I wont be able to as things go further along, however I am trying to get my sleep while I still can! I've always been a stomach sleeper and I'm finding it hard to break the habit!
4. Is there any danger to lifting heavy amounts?
5. Exercise...what are you doing?
I would love to hear your opinions!
Re: need some answers
2 I honestly don't know about the nail polish I was told it was ok to go get ur nails done let the tech know and hold ur nose because the smell is the worst part
3 belly sleeping I'm pretty sure it's completely safe to belly sleep! Not even until ur second trimester is it you have to avoid back sleeping. I just don't know how you do it! My belly is so bloated and sore and my boobs are too achy to belly sleep!!
4 heavy weights. I think this depends on what u were lifting before pregs. I deadlift 225lbs, since pregs I'm only going up to 180lbs and that'll probably keep decreasing as my abs become more and more useless. My dr said its ok as long as I listed to my body.
5 I do CrossFit : I'm going to keep doing CrossFit throughout pregs with alterations and decreased weights :
1. I don't drink coffee, but I do like tea. I drink decaf tea though. Very rarely I'll drink a few sips of soda.
2. I don't paint my nails.
3. I feel u on this! As we begin bearing more weight, we'll have to get used to sleeping on our sides. I heard body pillows are good for that. Right now I'm still on my back and stomach. I'm about 10 weeks.
4. I try not to lift or push heavy things. Don't want to risk anything this first trimester. If sort of heavy, not a problem. If I find I really gotta use my legs and back, I avoid it.
5. I have done zero exercise for almost 2 months. I used to play soccer 4 times a week, hike with my dog and DH about 3 times a week, and dance and drum traditional Korean drumming twice a week. All that stopped when I tore my ACL and meniscus. I need reconstructive surgery to be able to bend fully, accelerate, decelerate, jump, land, pivot, etc. found out I was pregnant a couple weeks after tearing my ligaments and cartilage, then told DH we should put off of TTC until after surgery, for which I have undergo general anesthesia. Lo and behold, boom. Go figure. I am considering trying to pick up yoga and maybe swimming when the weather warms up. It's really hard going from a super active person to pretty much sedentary.
1. How much caffeine are you having daily? Any at all?
I usually go under 100mg - I was told 300/day is fine
2. What brands of nail polish are safe? I've heard Sally Hansen and OPI but I cant find anything on the label that says this.
I got my chip free manicure on and my OB said its fine.
3. Is it ok to sleep on your stomach? I know I wont be able to as things go further along, however I am trying to get my sleep while I still can! I've always been a stomach sleeper and I'm finding it hard to break the habit!
I seem to wake up on my tummy most nights, and my doctor said it won't do damage yet... so I am not worried, I think it'll be obvious when it becomes bad.
4. Is there any danger to lifting heavy amounts?
your muscles are more relaxed and prone to injury
5. Exercise...what are you doing?
Vinyasa yoga and walking
