daycare giving skim milk?

Found out today that LO is getting skim milk when at daycare center. She only goes once a week (Thursdays)..but I thought it was recommended to give whole milk..we do whole milk or sometimes 1% at home.and I am still nursing a few times a day. So whats the scoop with the milk?!

  • We have always done 2, I could never get Dd to drink whole.

  • Whole milk it is, unless your pedi has recommended something else; however, since it's only once a week, I wouldn't stress. Calcium is calcium!

This on the whole milk. But I would mention something to DC. Maybe offer to send a quart of whole or something since it's only once a week. My doctor said the babies need the fat in whole milk for brain development.

  • My dd is 19 months today, and I switched her from formula to whole the day she turned one, then switched her to 2% about 4-5 months ago. Her pedi said that's what I was supposed to do, because whole milk can add unnecessary fats. Then again, my dd is above the 95th percentile for everything, DH is 6'4", so she is taller and doesn't NEED the extra. I think it all depends on the baby. :) Skim though? That's odd.

I hate changing my siggy because it's such a PITA to get it right.

I have the madeka 8 oz storage bottles that I send DD milks in to daycare everyday plus her sippy. They work great.
