Re: Just found out that my fiancé and i are pregnant :)

  • I got one early in one if my pregnancies, they will ask and I would be honest, but this early you can still lay on your belly
  • Usually they don't in the first trimester because it releases the toxics in your body. They say wait until after your first trimester.

  • I wouldn't have thought anything of a massage in your first trimester unless for some reason it is uncomfortable to lay on your stomach (Ex: my stomach is very upset first trimester so laying on my belly is a no go).  I am not an expert, just from experience is all.  I think you should do it while you can. :)

  • Congrats!!

Where I go, once they found out I was pregnant, they made sure I wasn't in my first tri. They refuse to do massages in the first tri.

  • A direct quote from my RMT about this.

I have massaged women in ALL trimesters of pregnancy! Pregnancy is NOT a contraindication for massage!!!!! If the women is high risk I would definitely not do a Deep Tissue treatment and very deep work around the low back and sacrum are cautioned but a full body relaxation massage has great benefits! Increase circulation/decrease stress/anxiety alleviates pain/discomfort and not to mention Improves whole body health and well being!!!! You my dear ARE FINE!!!!

I figured I'd go to the source for this one. Most people are misinformed about massage and chiropractic work in pregnancy. So enjoy it, just request no deep tissue work and drink a LOT of water after.

  • I had a massage last weekend.  She worked on my back while I was lying on my side, and she didn't do deep tissue massage.  If a massage therapist is trained in pregnancy massage there is no contraindication.  There are certain pressure points that are avoided and my MT doesn't have pregnant women lie on their stomachs but that's the only difference

  • Congrats!!! You can still get a massage since its very early. But if they ask just be honest.
  • I got a couples massage two days before I got my BFP and all was fine. I did note on the form that I could be pregnant though.

  • I didn't go to a professional or anything but Monday I went and had a mani/pedi done on my day off and when she was doing the pedi had the massage chair going. My drs appt was Wednesday and everything was fine. Like I said wasn't a professional but it did the job and help relax me as much as I could be relaxed still waiting for my first appt. LOL.

  • My massage therapist wouldn't work on me during my first trimester, and she's a certified prenatal masseuse. So I'd be upfront about your pregnancy.
