Filing for Separate Maintenance

I'm thinking of filing for separate maintenance. My husband walked out on me two months ago. I'm 10 weeks pregnant. My husband has a history of alcohol and drug abuse, was sober for almost three years after going through an outpatient rehab, but I think he is drinking again. This is our first child and I need to protect myself and my baby. Husband said he wanted a divorce but has not filed at this point. Is anyone in a similar situation and can give me some advice?

Do what you have to do to support you and your child. But why not just file for divorce, I"m curious?

My religious background prevents me from filing for divorce. I don't believe in it and don't believe it is God's will for my life. If my husband files I can't stop him, but I will not file as I believe it would be a sin. I don't judge anyone else who has gone through divorce, this is just my own feeling for my life and my situation. Everyone else has their own story.

Then go ahead and file for the separation, you have to protect yourself and who knows where his drinking will take him. It can always be lifted if he gets it together. GL, just make sure you take care of the baby and make its interests first.
