I keep meaning to do an intro and getting side tracked. I lurk all the time, but just started posting a bit and don't want to be a creeper. I am a mom to a 2 year old and am thinking about TTC #2 soon. I am a middle school science teacher and huge science nerd. Anything you need to know....ask away.
Re: An intro
If you say evolution, we can be BFFs.
It's always been biology....particularly microbio and genetics/developmental bio. Since I've been teaching middle school though I've gotten to teach space science and it is really cool!
Evolution's up there. It came into play in some of my developmental classes. I actually took a whole class on it in my undergrad that ended in a big project on the role of female choice in evolution. It was pretty cool if I do say so myself.
Middle school science is kind of a mix here. It's Physics, Bio, and Space all rolled into one year.
As a side note...I totally had a student to a genetic study of the wizarding gene in Harry Potter He was awesome.
Guise... we all know evolution is fake. Earth is only like 5000 years old. The bible told us so.
Hilarity, I am jealous.
I'm such a science geek I was on the Science Olympiad and the Environthon team in middle and high school.
And DH and I had an hour long discussion about the hedgehog's evolution and awesomeness, which turned into a discussion on convergent evolution and the horse "fly twitch" muscle and her muscle that controls her quills.
I am so, so lame.
That's pretty much what happened. He did a presentation on it and I think my chin was on the floor for most of it. He was one of the coolest kids I've ever taught.

Are you telling me that the Creation Museum is full of lies? Mary rode on a dinosaur into Bethlehem! I won't listen to nonsense that scientifically proves otherwise.
hey
::Waves hello::
I am also new on this board and I also love science! I majored in Biology for my undergrad before deciding that Mortuary Science was for me. Welcome!
First we had eachother.5.27.11
Then we had you.6.16.12
Now we have everything.
Which one? DS went twice to the one in Huntsville AL. He loves science!
I like you as well. Mortuary science? What sort of degree do you have? What sort of work do you do now?
HE, the fly twitch muscle is one of the neatest muscles. It may be rivaled by the muscle that lets Knarla ball. I'll see if I can get a video of her yanking her face in. It all just fits so perfectly.

I have a degree in Art and Science from PIMS. One of the top 5 Mort Schools in the US... there are less than 60 in the country. I am a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer. I work full time at a funeral home and cemetery combo in Pittsburgh.
PS. I love love love your hedgie and look forward to seeing new pics of her!

We did notice his interest in sciene declining a bit before camp. We stress to him that science encompass many parts. He did not really want to attend the fist time around. Scared, away from family, the unknowing played a lot into it. He ended up picking Aviation Challenge and Mach 1 programs. We are thinking of sending him 2014 & possible DH attend with him.
The 2nd time its amazing how much he learned during his week, and how much confidence he gained.
