Y trend story.

My niece is 6 and she is writing fairly well now, though she has a hard time spelling. The other day at a basketball game she was writing random stuff in a journal and was writing about my DS, Braden. She spelled his name correctly.

I was shocked as adults always think there is a y in his name and I asked how she knew to spell his name (thinking maybe she asked her mom).

She said she just sounded it out.

There is a reason to spell your child's name correctly. 

That is all I thought it was cute

I don't like the random Y in names but I actually think Brayden makes sense with a y. Braden doesn't make sense to me bc I read the name Brad in it but maybe its bc the only Brayden I know spells it with a y.

Because today's society has warped everyone's minds, a lot of people think that a y is necessary in different names; but they so aren't. Braden has a long a already, based off of the phonemic system that we all learned in kindergarten. It's also helpful to look up how a name is originally spelled. Braden is derived from a Gaelic surname and was most definitely not spelled Brayden because of the same phonemic system which I described above.
