1st Trimester

so... why?

Knowing that we don't really show til AFTER the baby moves up in week 12, why in the WORLD does the bump keep telling us to take pics from week 1 and on?

I get the beginning one... but I do NOT want pics of my BLOAT!

Re: so... why?

  • Because some women want to. I don't want any pictures until later. I am.overweight to begin with and until I can feel that bump all I can think of is fat, not pregnant.
  • I didn't really start taking pictures until about 12 weeks or so.

But I have seen some really cute things where they wear the exact same shirt or sports bra every single week and take the picture in the exact same spot, so you can literally see a week by week progression

I have also seen some really cute things done using fruit.  Every week a picture is done with the mom holding the piece of fruit or vegetable that the baby's size is compared to.

There isn't really a right or wrong way to do it, I think it just depends on what you want in the end.    I was totally cool with a handful of belly shots done every month or so starting at 12 weeks.  Others want more.

  • I'd be sick of self portraits if I'd started that early (and week 1?  WTF.)   I'm feeling a little silly for starting at week 9 because there is still no difference at 12 weeks.  I could see a little difference by now with my first, but I also had a big hematoma that was essentially the same size a twin would have been, so maybe that is why....because I'm 25lbs lighter this time so Ithought I'd see something sooner.

  • I thought it was ridiculous that TB suggested I take a picture that early. Um, how about I just refer back to ANY other picture of me because I look the same!

I hear ya! I'm overweight myself so I don't feel the need to take pics of my chubby self with no baby bump yet.  I'm going to wait until it's more apparent than just me being chubby

  • I've been doing weekly pics. I haven't seen much difference until the most recent. There was a visible difference between weeks 9 and 10. Is it likely just bloat? Almost definitely. But bloat is still a change. I want to be able to look back at the changes, attractive or not. Plus I don't know when "real" changes will become visible. It's not like I have to show any of the early pics to anyone, or even keep them. But I can't go back and take them later if I change my mind.

  • I've been taking pictures. Not religiously the same day every week, but more or less. I did it so that I can see the gradual changes, even if it is just bloat. It's like when you're gaining weight you may not notice the first 2-3 lbs, maybe not even 5, but all of a sudden you're up 10 and you wonder when that happened. I imagine a bump is much the same way. A picture can track the gradual changes I wouldn't notice in person. Plus, I imagine things are going to get all stretched out and out of place by the end of all this, so it will be nice to have a little memento of my former body.

  • I haven't taken any pics so far. I will be 12 weeks this Sat and I juuuuust now have a tiny bump it's my 3rd pg. I can actually feel my ute about 2 inches below my belly button.

I will probably start taking bi weekly photos then.
