Anyone else with unbearable back pain?

I am planning to go into urgent care today. I have what feels like sciatic nerve pain, which I know is pretty standard, but it's kept me from sleeping the past few nights and is damn near unbearable during the day too. It gets progressively worse as the day goes on.

Anyone else do more than take Tylenol for this? I'm thinking about going in for pain relief today and then getting a referral to a chiropractor next week. I feel like I'm overreacting but I shouldn't be in pain all day, right? It's way more than just uncomfortable and it's CONSTANT.

  • Sciatic pain can be dealt with so don't feel bad for getting help. Honestly though the stuff stronger than Tylenol probably wont help as its nerve pain.

Try Tylenol PM to sleep. Otherwise go see a chiropractor, acupuncturist, or a massage therapist certified in Bowenwork ASAP!!

Hope it goes away soon. Its no fun I know.

  • I don't know if the ER can do much for you. I'd ask my OB for a recommendation for physical therapy.

  • I agree with PP, unfortunately I'm not sure what urgent care will be able to do for you??  Look and see if you have a chiropractor that specializes in prenatal chiropractic care near you.  Call first thing Monday morning and see if they can get you in immediately!  They will usually give you stretches that can also help without going to a physical therapist also.
  • I just made a post about this before I saw yours. I'm having lower back pain, it's not constant, just really bad when I bend over/get  back up...I might call tomorrow to see if I can go to the chiropractor, I'm icing it now as my chiropractor has told me to do that in the past for back pain and it feels really good. I hope you find some relief :/
  • They prescribed oxycodone, which they said is just as safe as Benadryl or Tylenol PM, although those are good options too. It helps a lot, more than anything else, although I also put a heat patch on today and that was also AMAZING. A hot bath feels really great and so do some yoga stretches... but only while I'm doing them. I have a toddler, I can't afford to be out of commission!

It's a 3 day weekend and my doctor isn't available but I do plan to get a chiropractor referral ASAP! I've heard such good things about having a chiro during pregnancy, both on this board and from other people.
