Does anyone have the Cybex Aton cat seat or have researched it? I am looking for reviews/thoughts on this car seat as its one that is highly recommended for those that don't have a car in the city. However, its a newer car seat and I have not been able to find a lot of information. Would appreciate any input - thanks!
Re: Cybex Aton Car Seat
We did a ton of research on this car seat and looked at in the store (Buy Buy Baby) as well. Consumer Reports rates it very highly in safety. It's a German brand. The sales person showed us that this seat secures very differently than most American car seats, which only secure around the base. The Cybex Aton can be secured in cabs without use of the base altogether, and the claim is that there is a lot less movement because the belt somehow loops through the back. The padding is also not just memory foam but some sort of padding that is also used for safety in planes (according to the salesperson). We also liked that this car seat is a bit lighter than the others we were looking at--so, it can be used a little more easily as a carrier when needed. It also snaps very neatly into the stroller we are going to purchase (City Mini GT).
There was one BIG turn-off for us: multiple reviewers on Amazon said that the bottom of the car seat cut at the back of their babies ankles/feet, causing the baby to cry. That was enough for us to rethink whether or not to buy this car seat after being almost completely sold on it.
