How would you pronounce Madeline? Simple one but I've heard it 2 ways & was curious to see.

Mad-uh-lin (even though  Mad-uh-line makes more sense to me)

I'm a teacher and have had a lot of Mad-uh-lins and only one Mad-uh-line so I usually guess the more popular one when I see it.  The one Mad-uh-line I had spelled it Madeleine I think

It would be Ma-duh-line.  Madelyn or Madalyn would be Ma-duh-lin.  I'm a Caroline and hate it when people call me Carolyn, they are two different names.  I hope this helps!

I am never sure on this name... if it is said "Line" or "Lin" at the end. But my inclination is always to say "Line". Mad-uh-line. Though I kind of think Mad-uh-lin sounds prettier.

I guess like pp says... in order to have it said "Lin" then you should spell it Madelyn.

Yup, this. I know so many that say lyn instead of line, so I kind of assume that pronunciation until they tell me different.

Yeah, I'm not saying it's "right" because "line" should be pronounced just as it reads- LINE! lol  but it's just one of those names that you never really know.

Mad-uh-line.  DD is Madeleine (Mad-uh-lyn) and we haven't had any issues with pronunciation.

This! I worked in childcare when this name was more popular and it was always pronounced Mad-uh-lin.  I am in the midwest if that makes a difference!

I always assume -lyn as well, even though the children's book character was -line.

Agree, Madelyn (Mad-a-lynn) Madeleine (Mad-uh-lane)  The second one is how we would pronounce it if we have a DD
