1st Trimester

You all might find this weird but...

Every time I step in the shower and start the water, I'm instantly nauseous. I swear that showers make me feel ten times worse. I've had to put a trash can right next to the shower because I throw up every day in the shower. As soon as I get out, I feel better. Has anyone had this happen or is totally weird? Obviously I can't stop taking showers but I'm at a loss on what else to do.

  • Showers make me feel pretty awful too.  I think it's the combination of early morning, being too hot, and still feeling dizzy from just getting up.  I've started cutting them really short, figuring it's winter and who cares if I shave my legs anyways! Haha!

  • Yup I've heard it's normal.

  • A few weeks ago I was getting nauseous everytime I got in the shower. I found that turning the water a little cooler helped. But there was several times I skipped shaving too.

  • It takes all of my energy and I feel tired and sick. When I get out I have to lay down right away.

  • It hasn't kicked in yet, but with DS that happened to me. Poor DH one morning I jumped out of the shower to puke while he was brushing his teeth. LOL I agree with cutting them short and with making them cooler. Good luck. I hope you feel better soon!

  • Thanks everyone for the advice and responses everyone. :) I'm sorry other people feel this way too but at least I know it's not as weird as I thought!

  • Are you getting in the shower right when you get up? Maybe try eating something first if you aren't already. The only time I've gotten sick in the shower was because I didn't eat breakfast before getting in. Not sure if it will help, but might be worth a try!

  • Ohmigosh.  My husband needs to read this.  I keep telling him how much I don't like showering right now because it makes me so nauseous and he looks at me like I'm crazy.  It's so nice to hear that other people feel the same way.

Well you're not crazy and you're not alone. ;) lol. I'm glad to know it's not as *weird* as I originally thought either.  I joke with my family "if it's a boy he's already protesting showers" lol.

  • The most nauseous I felt today was also while I was in the shower. I have been wearing SeaBands since last night (which have helped immensely) and I think not having them on then might have contributed! I've heard that heat can amplify the nausea, so that could be it?

This. If I shower on an empty stomach I feel like poo. Eat at least a few crackers or something first and I bet it will help.

  • From what I've read pretty much anything and everything can induce nausea no matter how bizarre or weird.

Currently, I can't stand the smell of chicken or the look of chicken and after having a horrible bought of "night" sickness involving a balsamic vinegar arugula salad I can't stand the sight of lettuce. What a bummer.

Oh, and the crud that is leftover in the sink after loading the dishwasher makes me dry heave.  Yay!
