Breast Pump Question

Hi ladies

I am wondering did you buy or rent your breast pumps?  Also, how soon after birth did you start to use them?  I am trying to decide which option would be best and when to get it.

    I bought - I got it before baby, but didn't use it until around 6 weeks.  The only reason I got it before was that it was on sale.  Had some problems nursing at first, and they let me use a hospital pump while I was in the hospital, and didn't need it more than the once.
