Re: LNCI

  • 1:11 here. Baby H slept in crib 3 hours and is now eating.
He STTN last night in the swing. I wasn't sure if that's encouraging or discouraging, but I decided that it's encouraging because I now know that he can do it. Now he just needs to figure out how to do it in the crib!

  • I am...10:15....kiddos in bed for awhile and I'm catching up on gulp Teen Mom 2 checkup
  • 1:15. Just finished nursing for our MOTN feeding.

I'm exhausted. I officially have more respect for those of you with 2 or more children. My 2 yo niece and 4 yo nephew are here. Their parents are here too, but DH and I are helping them because its their vacation too. Watching them along with taking care of M has had me flat out. One more day left before its back to just me and bebe!

I loove having them here so I'm not complaining. Just worn out!! Definitely making me wonder about having another child... Lol

  • I'm here. It's 2am. I had a great day with Cole. He took good naps, went to bed easily by 9p and slept 5 hours. Yes I'm AWing but this has not happened in the whole 2 1/2 months he's been here! I know tomorrow may be different but I'm going to enjoy it tonight!

I hope everyone is enjoying a good nights sleep!

  • 1:11 here. H just ate again, after eating at midnight. Whatevs, at some point he'll sleep like he used to.

DH is out of town for work. I know it's dumb, since we EBF and he therefore doesn't get up at night with LO, but it makes me nervous that he's not here.

jLeigh, glad you're enjoying the time with your family. People at work are already starting to ask me when I'm going to have another baby. Right now my response is: Stare. Pause. Laugh. Don't know how the STMs do it!

  • jLeigh, you're too funny. It will be different when it's your own kid. I'm sure your niece and nephew certainly don't fall into whatever routine you'd have for your own child. Don't let a few days with them turn you off from wanting another. Most days it's a lot of fun! Rest is coming your way soon though!

It's 2:18. M woke up at 1, at which point I told her the kitchen was closed until closer to 3, when she's been getting up for weeks... she took her paci and went back down. She just now woke up pretty pissed so I grabbed her bottle, only for her to be fall back asleep in the 2 minutes it took me to get it ready. I hope we're not playing an hourly game here. She STTN on Saturday at my parent's and I was hoping it was the start of something good... especially because we've been getting her to nap well during the day too. Oh well. We will see!

  • 11:30 here. I'm just heading to bed, nursing baby K one last time and hoping for a nice long stretch for us all.

Today was good. DH did the morning preschool dropoff with DD1 so K's morning nap, which seems to set the tone for the rest of the day, wasn't disturbed for once. I got a lot done while she slept, felt good! Then we went grocery shopping in the afternoon and I wore her in my Beco for the first time. I had my class in the evening and DH said things went a bit more smoothly than last week.

As for having a 2nd, it's true that it's different when they're both yours. Also, it's not like you have 2 newborns at the same time. Unless of course you have twins...no idea how those moms do it! My older one is pretty self sufficient with most things now, which makes it a lot easier, and she likes to help me take care of her little sis. She's also happy to spend 30 mins playing in her room or working on a puzzle. Plus, there's this wonderful thing called preschool!

  • 1am here in AZ. Just changed & fed the lil guy. The past two nights I go in there to find him wide awake and smiley just waiting for me to go and get in there.

    Makes it all worth it.

Also my H mentions a second sometimes and I'm like: "Whoa! Slow down Tonto!" Only because I feel like his life has minimally changed since LJ was born. He works nights and sleeps part of the day and leaves for work by 5pm. He thinks it would be awesome. I do too, but maybe in a year or so. :)

I took care of my niece 2 nights a week up until I was 30 weeks and it wore me out! Trying to imagine 2 under 2 and that's what I think the level of tiredness would be.

Hope everyone gets some good rest.

  • 3am, and actually joining tonight. Not like S is anywhere near STTN, but since we cosleep, I can usually feed him and get back to sleep fairly easily. My body is having trouble adjusting to his longer stretches now, though, and I have a MOTN oversupply. I tried to ride it out and ended up with a lovely case of mastitis and soaked sheets 4 nights in a row. So now I'm back on that 3am pumping train.

  • 3 am and I jsut put cj back down after a 230 feeding. Tonight is the first night we haven't swaddled or anything and I'm finding he is really restless in the crib for about 20 minutes or so after I put him down. He did great at DC today, though he didn't nap much, which is fine by me because I was able to get us both in bed by 11. I did pretty well, it is much easier when you don't have to drop them off at DC. I just leave him with DH which for some reason doesn't seem as bad, and he drops him off. I pumped 3 times today and my boobs have never been so sore. I am used to pumping twice a day, so I don't know if it is the extra time that is making thim ache or whether I'm getting an infection?

How many oz does your LO take at DC. I'm a little worried CJ will eat only 4 oz every 3 hours which means he only gets 8 oz while at DC. I always pump at least 12 oz in that time. I mean he always seems satisfied and he's gained weight really well, but when I asked on the breastfeeding board people seemed to think 8 oz wasn't that much. How much does everyone else pump vs. feed?

  • Mittens, sorry you had a rough first day of DC. Our first day is next Monday, and I'm trying really hard not to think about it.

I'm really just chiming in because I was on non mobile TB earlier and wanted to say that your siggy pic is basically the cutest thing ever. GL with the lottery!

It's 3:22. Just refilled the bottomless pit. Holding him upright for a few, really have to pee!

  • I'm going with encouraging too! I swaddled Cu tonight and we never swaddle and I felt the same way. Like if he sleeps well, which he has, have I just turned him on to something he's about to grow out of? ....
....but he slept really well. He went down at 9, and I just went in there at 4 to nurse him.

I usually have to sit there and hold his hands for a bit, but tonight I just laid him back down and he was out.

I saw this thing called a swaddle strap, that's all I need. I'm mobile or I'd post a pic. But I didn't even know these things existed, all it does is help you swaddle LO's arms at their side.

Anyway, Mittens. That sounds like a verrrry rough first day. I hope today is a little easier.

I'm gonna try to get some more sleep y'all.

  • It's 5 now and we're up for our second feeding. It doesn't look like I'm going to sleep anytime soon either because he is just wide awake and full of it!

It's funny how after after being up every hour or two with a newborn your body adjusts and when you get a 2 or 3 hour block you feel so rested! Now my body is craving more. The first stretch of the night is good but then I feed DS2, then an hour later DS1 wakes up, then DS2 needs to eat again then an hour after that DH gets up for work. I feel like I get no sleep after 2am! I hope this gets better before I go back to work in 3 weeks.

  • 5:27 up again he slept 3 1/2 hours. Tonight was do much more bearable after a STTN. The night before. I knew He prob wouldn't do it back in his crib, so I didn't have my hopes up and I was well rested and ready to be up a couple times.
His crib felt a little damp when I got him, so he had spit up. I'm still thinking once we get the reflux under control he might fare better overnight.
  • 7:00 and I can't believe it! M slept for almost 6 more hours! That was nice! I hope this is the start of something new. I know the 4 month wakeful could be coming soon, but maybe he'll give me a month of good sleep.

You ladies are awesome. I love reading all of your different perspectives. I'm sure someday I'll have another little baby, just with my niece and nephew here it's making me postpone that idea for a bit. I also used to joke that working in daycare is the best form of birth control... But, looks like it didn't entirely work for me lol

Woo hoo! Go M! Is that his longest stretch? FX that this is his new normal!

Just dropped A off at DC. Today was muuuuuch better. No tears for me and he immediately started playing and cooing at the other kids.

That was his longest! If I wasn't on mobile I'd totally post some dance gifs.

And that's awesome A, and you lol, did so good at DC! I'm trying to find a new moms group or something to join so M can have some baby friends. I can't wait to see his reaction. Sounds like A is quite social :

  • 5:30 here. First time B woke up since 9. He's been going this fairly regularly which I love. However, I'm holding him upright now for 10 min before putting him back to bed, so that will get me back into bed by 5:45 and I get up with DH around 6:30. It's almost like, what's the point? Oh well, a few more minutes of snooze is good. And yes, having two sounds crazy. We have always thought we would have one and be done and that's the mindset we still have. We will see!! Xo
  • Rachel: Two thumbs up for the swaddle strap. I bought one off Amazon but it was crazy expensive  (34$).  Come to find out, the Halo swaddle sleep sack (some of them) have the swaddle part that is detachable. You can find these at consignment stores and way cheaper (6-14$). My bean loves swaddled but when its warmer at night and sometimes for day naps the strap is just what he needs.

I really should just learn to sew.
