LO has his 1st cold...advice please!

It so hard to seem him all stuffy, with a runny nose and coughing like crazy!

I've got the humidifer going day and night.  I've done the steamed bathroom thing, and baby vick vapor rub on his chest.  Maybe it's getting better but he's having such a hard time sleeping right now b/c he can't breath through his nose.  As a result, he wakes up crying and now he's hoarse.

Any other tips, please share.  We gave him Tylenol Sunday night which seemed to help him sleep alittle better.

 As a side note, I think I'm getting sick too!  Since my BF, I dont' think that leaves much room for drugs!

I've been using saline nose drops & the aspirator.  He hates it, but it seems to help a lot.  I also bought a Vicks plug-in & it seems to help at night.  We've also elevated his crib mattress on one end so that his nose will drain better.

I have no advice except for have him sleep with his head slightly elevated to help the drainage from his nose and help him breathe.

 BTW- my DD has her first cold as well, and I woke up sick this AM as well- so we are in the same boat..(no meds for me either!)

Have you elevated his crib mattress?  You could roll up some towels and put them under the mattress or place books under the legs of the crib so his head is elevated. 

Also, there is Little Noses Saline Drops.  You can put 2 drops in each nostril, and then aspirate each nostril once.  You don't want to suck to much out, because you don't want to dry his little nose out.

When you nurse him, put some vapor rub on your chest. He will get the vapors and so will you. Get Well!!! and Good Luck
