Numbness

Does anyone else find that their extremities arms, legs or hands become numb and tingly often? Sometimes if I sit on my legs or whatever they go numb but just today my hands and one leg felt tingly and numb for no reason. I'm wondering if baby can cause poor circulation?

  • I get numbness in my legs sometimes if I sit in certain positions, prego or non-prego. I asked the doctor about it and he said it had to do with where the veins were in my legs and any strain on them. He told me to move around a little until it goes away. He also mentioned that if it lasted more then 30 seconds or so to inquire again. I would inquire with your doctor if you are really concerned, you wouldn't be the first mom to be a concerned about all of the "little stuff" (doctor's words, not mine).
  • I think someone mentioned something similar on a recent thread. My right hand gets numb/tingly when I sleep on my right side, but that's about the only numbness I've experienced so far.
  • My two outer fingers go to sleep sometimes when I'm sleeping too. At my old job I sat at a desk typing most of the day. It was caused by that. It's better now that I am away from the computer and typing.
  • The baby book I'm reading said that with all the swelling our bodies are enduring, carpal tunnel can be a result (which might explain numbness in our wrists).

I've had some numbness in my right thigh, and Dr. Google tells me it's probably because baby is sitting on a nerve. I'm planning on asking my doctor this week, though.

This.  I work at a desk and typing/adding #'s all day and have noticed my fingers getting tingly from time to time.  Not sure if it's all baby related though...

  • i have wayy worse circulation now that I'm pregnant.  I also get numb at the bottom of my ribs.  But lately my fingernails go blue really easily and that's never happened to me before!  It freaked DH out!

  • I've also been feeling the tingling and numbness in my hands since I was about 17 or 18 weeks along. I also felt it in my foot once last week (about 20 weeks).  My doc also told me it was swelling leading to carpal tunnel.  Since the tingling comes and goes, and it doesn't really hurt, I'm going to wait on getting the braces for now.

  • Yes, you can blame the baby. I'm the same way. Everything swells, My doctor recommended wearing braces on my wrists to keep them from swelling since I keep losing feeling in my fingers.
