Registry-stalkers: how far away is your shower?

I have seen the posts from "registry stalkers" about all of the things people have purchased off of their registries.  My shower is in a week, and almost nothing has been purchased off of my registries. We chose a lot of price points, but our registries might not have been the most convenient for people (some stuff was only online or at a local baby boutique).

I'm wondering if this means that most people have gone off-registry... which is obviously totally fine, but also something good for me to be prepared for in advance because we are pretty specific about some of the stuff we want for baby.  I'm starting to wonder if we might end up returning/donating a fair amount of stuff.  Either way, obviously we'll be grateful for whatever we receive!

It might be normal for most people to pick out stuff at the last minute, too.  I'm just curious what other people's experiences have been with when guests have purchased things.

  • Mine is 2 weeks from tomorrow and we are registered at the big 4:  BRU, BBB, Target, Amazon.  The only things that have been purchased are the travel system (by BIL/SIL--but *I* had to mark that as purchased at BRU because despite them telling us they got it, it didn't get marked as purchased which makes me wonder if more things have been purchased and not marked), a wash cloth, a set of bath towels and a diaper genie refill.

  • You are going to donate or return off registry items?

Not necessarily.  Depends what it is.

If its something she doesn't want or need, what else should she do with it?
  • Lots of people shop the day of, so if shopping at your registry locations isn't easy, I'd expect plenty of off registry items like clothes.
  • Next Saturday at home and 4/6 here and the first items were purchased this week.

  • I've actually been stalking my friend's registry (she's due in March) because another friend and I are throwing a small local shower for her. Stuff started getting bought super quickly the week before her larger hometown shower.

  • My first shower's is March 9th and I have had a few things bought from my registry. I remember from my bridal shower, most of my items were purchased the week before.

  • Mine is Sunday and stuff has only really started to disappear off the registry in the past few days. I know I am usually a last-minute gift buyer (usually the day before or even day of!) so I wouldn't be surprised if you start seeing stuff fly off the registry as your shower gets closer.
