So the only person my husband and I have told our thoughts of baby names to was my mom... she knew we wanted it kept quiet but today, she spilled the beans to a sister in law I'm not really close with and now I'm disappointed and thinking I'm going to have to change our names. We like keeping it quiet until the delivery so then no one can decide to grumble and convince us to change our minds. so I guess I'm name hunting once again.
sigh.

**RATE A NAME HERE!**
That seems silly. If you really love the name, what's it matter if someone knows now or in 30 more weeks? Sure, you wanted to keep it a secret, but it got out. Oh well. And you didn't mention that SIL actually did grumble, just that she knows.
But I do think if everyone in your circle says a name is terrible, it might be worth listening to them in case they point out something you hadn't thought of, like it's the name of a serial killer.

Thinking of doing cosmetic updates to a dated home? These were our costs.
I agree. I couldn't care less who approved or disapproved of our name choice. It wasn't going to sway me one way or the other, especially if I didn't ask for opinions.
So you're going to pick new names because you want the name to be a surprise?
I agree with the others, I think that is kind of a lame reason to change the names, but if you decide to do it anyway- definitely keep them to yourself next time. This seems so weird, if it was so important for it to be a surprise, why share with *anyone* in the first place?

Exactly.
agreed. 2 people know..not reason enough to change
I understand your frustration, but if you have found a name you really love why change it just to spite someone? That would be silly.
And anyway, you are still really early and might change your mind a hundred times.
Hope everything works out for you!

I like to keep the name quiet too. With our first, we told SO's mother that if it was a girl we would name her Aniyah. Well, apparently she loved the name and told her sister, who in turn told SO's cousin who was pregnant at the same time, but due a few weeks before us. She had a girl and guess what she named her? Aniyah. And SO is pretty close to this cousin, so now we feel we can never use that name. Luckily, we had a boy, but it still irritated me.
This time, we haven't told anyone (except the lovely ladies on this board) about any names we are even considering. I do not want that to happen again.
But, as PP have said, you still have a ways to go, so you might have ended up changing your mind 100 times anyway. Good luck and I hope you guys find one you love!
