I recently came across (on two separate occasions) the name Cotys for a girl. Pronounced Code-iss.

Has anyone else heard this? I didn't see anything on Behind The Name so I'm wondering is this made up or something totally off my grid but "normal" elsewhere.

 Admittedly, the immature part of me immediately thinks "coidus"...

lol no worries. I've never heard of it before either so I don't know if it's made up, but I think a lot of people would have the same association when they hear it.

I thought that it went the route of feminine napkin myself.  There are so many pretty names that don't have unfortunate connotations, why do people not use one of those?
