I stumbled across this name, and I really love it for some reason. Our last name rhymes with Ponner and we will probably use the middle name Kay (after my grandmother)...how do you like it?

I have a friend in France who has a Tante Mirabelle. It's not really her real name, but the name of the plum brandy she distills.
That brings me to another question...spelling...
Mirabel or Mirabelle
I haven't mentioned it to SO yet since he is so picky with names...I only have one chance to bring it up. Lol Once a name is a no to him...it's a definite no.

I don't love Mirabel - I think it's because the -belle endings feel a little too frilly for my taste. I do think Mira is cute, though.
As for spelling: Mirabelle *looks* a lot frillier/girlier than Mirabel - the shorter spelling almost looks kind of, I don't know, practical or no-nonsense to me, which I think I prefer. But it depends on what you and your DH are going for.

This kid may not have a lot of bowel, but he has plenty of guts! DS born at 34 weeks with (surprise!) gastroschisis turned short bowel syndrome. 131 days in the NICU, 7 trips to the OR, G-button, daily TPN....
We are impatiently awaiting the day we can say goodbye to his girlfriend Ivy for good.
And I prefer Mirabel to Mirabelle. Unless you're going for a specifically French-inspired sibset, I don't think the extra letters do much for you. I feel the same about Annabel/Annabelle and Isabel/Isabelle.

I like that description. The extra letters do make it seem more frilly, and more French- inspired than I need. Being I'm neither frilly, or French. Lol

We aren't French, so I guess the "belle" ending isn't really necessary.

The bolded. But I definitely wouldn't side eye...its a refreshing change from Isabel/Isabelle/Isabella.
We have family members who have an Isabella, so even if we liked it...it's off limits. Lol DD's name isn't frilly, so I'm wondering if it would work as a sibset.

Re: Mirabel
I think the "different" part is what I'm struggling with. Lol I can't tell if it's just the right amount of different or too much.

Thanks! I have loved that for a middle name ever since I was in 7th grade. Kind of a usable GP name. Lol

If we have a 2nd DD, that will be her name for sure.
