Sick or teething?

LO has had a low grade fever all day, drooling, and has been a little cranky. He doesn't seem to be sick, and is eating and drinking fine,  so I am figuring he is teething. He has 8 teeth already though, and he is just about to be 9 months in a few days. So I am wondering, what teeth would be coming in if it is teething? Can 1 year molars come in this early?

Re: Sick or teething?

  • I don't know from experience, but I read that 1 year molars can even come in before their central teeth.  I guess the bottom two front teeth are usually first and then after that it can vary with what comes in next.

  • A couple weeks back I wasn't sure if DS was sick or teething.  He had a fever but it wasn't low grade.  He already had an appointment for the next day anyways.  At his appointment they told me a low grade fever is associated with teething however an actual fever is typically associated with an infection (turns out he had an ear infection).

  • Without sneezing or coughing, that sounds like teething to me.  Livi doesn't usually get a slight fever when she has teeth coming in but it has happened.

  • My LO is getting in his some of his molars. He is cranky and drools a lot, but we have not experienced anything over a 100-degree temp. Our pedi said it would be normal to get a fever because of teething, but nothing over 101.
