Anyone else gonna ask their DH to do a perineum massage? I was just reading about it, and now I cant stop giggling. My hubs loves me, and wants the best for both baby and I buuuuuuuuuuuut I just cant see him doing this, I cant see myself letting him! It sounds like a great idea since two things scare me 1) pooping on the table (altho natural and the RN's and docs are use to it and feel like its nothing) and 2) and an episiotomy.
oh the joys of having a baby! hope lil man loves his mama!!

I pooped on the table with ds1, only the nurse and I knew. Dh was right by my head and didn't see it, and the nurse just cleaned me up without saying a word. And I had an episiotomy that time, my son's cord was around his arm and neck, the dr felt it was the best way to get him out quickly. I don't think I pooped the second time but can't be sure and I didn't have an episiotomy.
So at least in my case, while dh would do it if I asked, I don't see it really helping.

I'm not convinced massaging your perineum will prevent an episiotomy bc that's an in the moment thing and most drs don't do them anyways.
And you could always massage it yourself and have a talk with your dr or midwife about counter pressure while pushing.
You can always request an enema when you go in to labor. My friend has had one with both her kids and did not poop on the table. That was my plan also with my last baby but I had a c-section and will be having another one.
I would do an enema over a perineum massage.
