Family Day Care Resources & Recommendations?

Hi All,

Do you have good recommendations for how to choose a family day care provider for an infant? I've found some state lists of licensed options, but aside from calling up each one to talk I can't figure out how to narrow the list down.

Does anybody have:

(a) personal experience with this

(b) recommendations (especially for the Mission Hill/Brookline Village area)

(c) names of other message boards I should try

The only recommendation I have is that my sister started her search in the same way, with a list of state licensed places.  She then did a drive-by to see if the place at least looked respectable and then called.  She said that she did actually eliminate some places based on that.  Hope that helps!
